Use Pygame to build intermediate level games!
Service Description
Prerequisites: Completion or Testing Out of Python Level 2. (Please email support@fireflycoders.com should you have questions!) Recommended Age Range: 12-15 years. Now that Python 2 is behind us, and we've begun to routinely use functions, loops, and other constructs of intermediate complexity, we will focus on building increasingly complex games and applications. As always, we will be 100% hands-on, designing interactive games and applications! In this course, we will utilize Python's Pygame module. This module is particularly suited to building games, which will be our gateway of choice to cementing our foundations of programming while learning new concepts. Once we've completed the creation of our "capstone" game, we will seek to understand how we might connect our projects to the outside world. Using Python's Requests module, we will explore multiple different publicly available data streams, and how we might access that data. Building projects using this knowledge will enable us to visualize and understand how everything online is connected: from Google, to Facebook, to Alexa, and everything in between. Coupled with the critical thinking and coding skills we've been building will allow us to create some really useful and amazing projects! Other benefits: - CSTE/ISTA based Curriculum - 100% Hands-on Project-based Learning - Parent Reports on progress - Fortune 500 Software Engineer Instructors - Guaranteed, Student-built Code Repository by Course-end - On-demand Instructional Videos - 4:1 Student Teacher Ratio
